Cen-Tex Travelers

Cen-Tex Traveler members are located primarily in Central Texas. However, anyone who wishes to join us will be more than welcome.

The main theme of our club is FUN! If you're allergic to fun you need to get an antidote! We have potlucks, play games, such as: 42, bean bag baseball, Joker, etc. We are often fortunate to have one of our members bring their Wii and we all try our hand at bowling and/or baseball.

We meet in February, March, May, sometimes June, September, November and December. In January, April, and October we attend the Texas W meetings and rally. In July we attend the WIT Grand National Rally in Forest City, Iowa.

For our meetings, a host or hosts determine at what RV Park we will meet. They are responsible for scheduling what we do. We try to set the meetings a year ahead of time so we can assure we can get reservations. We usually get reduced rates. Each rig is usually responsible for paying for the number of nights they will be staying.

Centex Travelers in Hempstead

November 2011

We had a really super time at Red Oak Ranch in Hempstead. Since most of us were unable to make the scheduled meeting. We joined forces with the Bluebonnet Travelers who were meeting here one week later. They welcomed us with open arms for their Thanksgiving celebration, with a total of 19 coaches of really fun people.

We were the Tittles, Kunzes, Parsleys, Todds and BJ, a small but mighty, fun loving group. There was the ever present “42” which kept B.J., Gayle, Tommy Jo and Mike grinning, and you should have seen the food. Thursday, we headed out for the Jankowiaks favorite BBQ haunt, with a trip to the pastry case before leaving (this meeting was held in their backyard). Friday they made a huge pot of minestrone soup, with homemade corn bread and salad, topped off with dessert and Saturday was the traditional Thanksgiving feast: these women can cook!! We got in our Joker games also, need the mental challenge. If that wasn’t enough, we could Wii.

We had enough people to drag out the beanbag baseball board and had a game rivaling anything ever seen at Texas W. It was so fun, we played two games. Also, feature the “make a turkey from a pine cone” contest to win a free night parking. The funniest sight was B.J. cutting out the colored hand print (used for the tail) all the time saying “this is the silliest thing I ever did”, followed up by Bob trying to draw his hand with semi-fingers…. So good to spend time with good friends.
